Class #3 : How to teach a new language

During this class we could practice many of the skills related to learning a language and in addition, we could obtain very interesting knowledge about grammar. For example, we learned about adverbs of frequency and the position they have in a sentence. Additionally, we learned about the use of the future tense in English: will and going to. Here, I find interesting to mention that when the teacher was explaining those aspects of grammar to us, he always used examples that could represent what he wanted to teach us, something that seems fundamental to me because as a teacher, I have been able to realize that when I am teaching structure, students, specifically children, understand when it is explained with many examples.

When the structure is taught, it is difficult for students to understand because it is complex for them to understand the parts of speech, such as pronoun, verb, adverb, these are terms that are still very abstract for them, and although it is important to teach them and its meaning, I can realize that It takes them a bit to internalize them. For this reason, I consider that exemplifying is an excellent way to "ground" knowledge and allow students to understand in a simpler way. In fact, the examples given by the teacher allowed me to better understand the topics covered in class.

Related to this, it seems important to me to reflect that as teachers we have a primary task. We must always find ways and strategies to teach better to our students. Sometimes a topic may seem difficult to them and they may even get frustrated, but we as teachers must always try to find a way to make it simpler.

This is how this class taught me the importance of being dynamic when teaching a new language, there are always new activities and games that can be useful for our work in the classrooms, and I think that the class itself was a good example of that, since we did multiple exercises that allowed me to learn better and in different ways. Thus, little by little, we can become better teachers, knowing the needs of our students and providing them with the tools to learn.

Class # 4 : The importance of immersion and meaningful communication scenarios in English language learning

During this class the teacher focused on teaching the perfect tenses, specifically, present and past perfect. And although I did not attend the class due to health issues, I did the exercises that the teacher proposed regarding those topics. Personally, I have to admit that these tenses still seem a little complicated to me because I don't use them much when I speak. Usually, I always use simple present, simple past and simple future, which is why I feel that I need a lot of practice to improve the perfect tenses use when I speak, write, read and listen. Class #6 : The importance of motivation

Very interesting topics were covered during this class. First of all, the teacher talked to us about the importance of motivation and then gave us a brief explanation about the certification exams, a topic that I found very interesting because it is a step that we must take as English teachers. We also practice some of the communication skills, writing and listening, to continue training ourselves in learning the language.
