Class #9: The importance of vocabulary

During this class the teacher talked to us about the importance of knowing vocabulary and about our duty to learn grammar and strategies to help our students learn the language. However, he emphasized that teachers are intermediaries and that it is always our responsibility to practice and improve our skills, therefore, discipline is essential. In addition, we played among us and did some listening exercises. Therefore, in this blog I would like to talk about the importance of learning vocabulary when learning English and how motivating our students to be disciplined can help them in their process of learning a language.

Learning vocabulary is crucial when acquiring English skills. Words are like building blocks that construct sentences and convey meaning. The more words a learner knows, the better they can express themselves and understand others. Teachers can motivate students to learn vocabulary by making it fun and relevant to their interests. Activities like word games, flashcards, and contextual learning exercises can make memorizing new words enjoyable and memorable.

Also, discipline plays a vital role in language learning. Consistent practice and dedication are key to mastering any language, including English. Teachers can encourage students to be disciplined by setting clear goals, providing structured lessons, and offering positive reinforcement. By fostering a disciplined approach to learning, students can develop effective study habits, stay focused on their language goals, and ultimately achieve success in their language learning journey.

Class # 4 : The importance of immersion and meaningful communication scenarios in English language learning

During this class the teacher focused on teaching the perfect tenses, specifically, present and past perfect. And although I did not attend the class due to health issues, I did the exercises that the teacher proposed regarding those topics. Personally, I have to admit that these tenses still seem a little complicated to me because I don't use them much when I speak. Usually, I always use simple present, simple past and simple future, which is why I feel that I need a lot of practice to improve the perfect tenses use when I speak, write, read and listen. Very interesting topics were covered during this class. First of all, the teacher talked to us about the importance of motivation and then gave us a brief explanation about the certification exams, a topic that I found very interesting because it is a step that we must take as English teachers.
